| There used to be a time when everyone stored their bountiful harvest to sustain them through to the next growing season. Now we just plan to get to the store every couple days. There have been enough natural emergencies throughout the country that I think there are those who are seeing there is true prudence in being prepared.
We went many many years without a garden. Actually, thanks to our goats we went this year without a garden for the most part as well. Hopefully that issue will be solved better next year (we are now eating the two male goats that continuously jumped over the new electric fence).

I think the gift of seeds is a PERFECT “kit” to give someone, whether they actually save the vault for tough times or dip into it the first spring. We have A LOT to learn about gardening. I DO NOT have a green thumb. Actually most of the issue is that our family zoomed through summer so quickly we just didn’t tend it well enough to give us a good yield.
So… we begin making new plans for next spring! Hope springs eternal.
