First Fall Flakes!

SNOW IN OCTOBER! Just one of the great advantages of living in NY.  I must admit I always like that first October snow fall.  Probably because I assume I am getting pity from all my southern friends and mostly because I know there are still some remotely warm days left in fall.  I also love the first BIG snow stormof the season… I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I am a bus driver now which means I get to sleep in.

Years ago, before I drove bus, our number was only one digit different than the school cancellation phone number.  Once I realized this, I SO WANTED TO have a bit of fun and say things like “You’ve reached the School Cancellation Information number.  I am pleased to tell you that school has been cancelled for the month.”  What I actually did was turn off the ringer and set my answering machine to say something like this….

“You must be calling to see if you have school today.  I have no idea because I am a mother of lots of kids who homeschool.  So while you are trudging through the snow I will be sleeping in and later will be cuddled in blankets sipping hot chocolate reading a good book to the kids.  If you would like more information on home schooling please call back during normal waking hours because no one should be up this early.  Thank you”

In case you have noticed this cute little boy’s shoes I just want to point out that I have no idea whose kid this is… seriously. Who would let their child out in the snow in flip flops even if it was for only a few minutes?!? Although they do match his hat!

So Cynthia… you have left the first “real comment” on my site. We were discussing that maybe you should get a prize. My daughter suggested a movie night and a hug. I was thinking lunch somewhere. Really though… thanks for taking the time to look at my site.
