God has blessed us with this little one in many and different ways than our other children. The special agent to help deliver these unexpected perks is the extra chromosome she possesses.
I must say that when we first heard that she probably had Down syndrome I had a wide range of emotions. My husband was not dismayed in any way. He was concerned for her little heart as she would need open heart surgery but her actual T21 diagnosis didn’t really phase him. He’s A GOOD MAN… a steady anchor for me during this time. The only hint at disappointment was that she wasn’t a boy as he often sees an older contractor at the local hardware store with his adult son who is happily keeping him company. It appears they are buddies. David likes that. Whose to say our little GIRL won’t grow up to want to pal around with her daddy?
She really is a joy and has helped us appreciate the little milestones and steps that we overlooked with the others. She definitely does things at her own pace but it is good to be reminded we need to step back and relax sometimes. Slowing down a bit is good. And Ren? Well she is GREAT!
